Well yes, of course I will go for walks I'm sure you say!!!
Here's the part that a lot of people don't know! Walks are important but if you continue to walk the same path around the neighbourhood everyday, your pup is not getting the socialization that he should be! They need new sights, sounds and smells!! Take your pups to new places, new parks, new neighbourhoods!! This is socialization!! A great place to go is outside a grocery store! Everyone loves puppies and will want to pet your puppy! You can have treats and they can pet and treat your pup!! Watch for signs of stress in your puppy. Make sure he is enjoying himself and the interactions. If not, he may not be ready for this kind of socialization, some puppies are shyer and need to be introduced to people at a distance to begin. This is where a professional trainer can help! Use treats for all the above experiences!! This way your pup learns that new, novel experiences equal good stuff! Let him walk on a new surface....treat, look at a person with a hat or sunglasses (can be triggers for some dogs!)...treat, watch anything with wheels (skateboards, rollerblades, baby buggies etc)....treat!!!!
