Dogs WILL Train for Rewards. No Need to be Mean.

June 16, 2016

I have been working with dogs for around 200 years now. Please believe me when I tell you this: Dogs WILL train for rewards.

I can almost hear you sigh in relief. Yes, you can train your dog without being mean and without a choke chain. I promise you.

To prove it, I offer you Ms. Madison. She is sitting without a treat, without her human holding her leash and is even looking at the camera (not sure I can guarantee that!) In this case, her reward is her happy human snapping away in front of her. And, the promise of a cookie later...

This post is in support, by the way, of a great initiative. #Train4Rewards is a blogging push (they're calling it a Blog Party!) to educate humans that our animal friends can be trained without mean, outdated techniques.
