Our Training Philosophy
Pawsitively Canine dog training services is a small training company
offering a variety of unique group and private classes for all dogs,
from young puppies to adult. We offer a positive and fun learning
environment, and encourage even the youngest members of your human
family to become part of this experience.
Bringing home a new furry member of your family, is a wonderful
and exciting experience, however, it can also be a stressful and
overwhelming time in your life. At Pawsitively Canine dog training,
we are here to help ease that stress, by helping you teach your
dog how to fit into your family life. We have dedicated our life
to dog training by teaching positive methods only. We do not ever
use scruff shaking, alpha rollover, choke chains or shock collars.
Too many of dogs in our society end up in shelters, most often due
to behavioural issues. Our goal is to work with you and your dog
on these issues so that training offers the results you are looking
for, thus requiring fewer dogs to live in a shelter, and more to
live with the families they love.
We have found a huge need for owners to understand what their dog
is trying to say, by learning to read body language. So often, problems
arise in human-dog relationships because of the lack of ability
to read this very important body language, referred to as calming
signals. Our dogs are constantly reading our body language, and
communicating with us using these calming signals. Identifying calming
signals can be an invaluable tool to help understand our dogs. By
learning these signals, you are equipped with the ability to know
when your dog is stressed or confused, enabling you to keep stress
at a minimum while training.
Our training teaches your dog to be a good canine citizen in every
day life. We make training fun, for you and your dog. Our methods
are 100% humane, with no physical prompting in any way. We use treats
and/or toys to lure and reward your dog, and in return, you get
a motivated and willing partner that is eager to work with you.
The end result is a dog who pays attention because he/she wants
to, not because he/she has to.
Training is a vital part of any dog, puppy or adult, in order to
establish leadership on the part of the owner. It is also essential
to help build a strong bond between you and your dog. This bond
you create will last for the rest of your dog’s life and will make
all of those years rewarding for both you and your dog. We teach
you how to be a good leader to your dog and teach him/her that all
good things come from you, the owner. Even though our methods are
gentle, we still stress the importance of your dog knowing that
you are the leader, and making him work for the good things in life.
Our specialty is puppies, providing puppy preschool and puppy home
visits for newly acquired pups. Our puppy home visits provide first
time puppy owners with important tips on how to start their pup
off on the right paw and get them ready to start classes. Puppy
preschool focuses on the essential and critical stages in every
puppy’s life, while preparing you to begin the next set of classes,
Basic Manners-level one. We also offer workshops on a variety of
topics such as clicker training, coming when called, jumping up,
and many more…..
The facilities where we hold all of our classes are spacious, clean,
and comfortable. Your dog will never feel crowded, and we always
limit the size of our classes to ensure more quality individual
attention.
Whether you are having trouble with your adult dog, or welcoming
a new member of your family, we can help!! We look forward to working
with you and helping your dog become an outstanding member of the
dog world. Always feel free to check out any of our classes before
registering.
Remember……catch your dog in the act of doing something good……and
reward him!!!! |
